"Scary Things" and Pumpkin Carving

So I am sure when you read this title you were thinking "What on earth does she mean by scary things?" Well as some of you know Jo, Ja, & K are doing a haunted house for the boy scouts and venture crew. Last night, I asked A if she wanted to go and she got really excited and said yes. Of course I had my reservations but I figured worse comes to worse we could just go and see uncles and auntie. We pulled up and she had a look of shock on her face which made me even more nervous. She said she wanted to go in so we paid and held our glow stick. (If you have young children who don't want people jumping out at them they give you a glow stick). As we started to enter we ran into Uncle Ja, who decided it would be a good idea (since she was the only person in the maze because of the freezing cold) to go and have all the workers take off their masks. We continued to walk through and see all the flashing lights and spiders and all the "scary things." The entire time she kept telling me "It's OK Mommy, it's pretend." I was so proud of her! We went through the entire maze saying hi to all the kids on the way and getting a candy when we were done. She had such a good time and I am so glad we went!

For awhile now, Ch and I have been planning on carving pumpkins today. Of course, I did not think ahead of time and waited until the last minute and had a hard time finding pumpkins. I did find some and brought them home for us to carve. I sat A down and asked her what she wants to carve and she said to no surprise "Aurora's Castle." So we found a princess castle template and started scooping the seeds out of the pumpkin. She did not like the feel of the seeds but was such a good helper. We started tracing out the pumpkin and then she got bored and tired and took a nap. Daddy and I finished carving them while A was sleeping and loved the way they came out. Then tonight we let her help light them and she thought they were beautiful. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

15 Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom

You know how this works - copy and paste the questions into your own blog. Replace my answers with your own. I'm curious to see your answers too!! :)

15 Confessions of a Stay At Home Mom

Something I let my kids do way too much of sometimes: Watch Dora the Explorer
Something I do too much of sometimes: Get on the Internet
Something I wish I could do more of: Rest
Something I pray for every day: That we will get through this transition period stronger than we were before
My favorite time of day: Bedtime when we read and sing songs
My greatest strength as a mother: The ability to make all the "boo boos" feel better
My greatest weakness as a mother: Sometime I can be over-protective
Favorite stage of childhood (my children’s years): 6 months to 1 year because they are just starting to develop curiosity
A chore I would happily give to someone else: Cleaning the bathroom
One habit I need to break: Always eating on the go / eating bad
What I do when I feel like I’m going crazy: I get impatient
How much sleep I get per night: About 8 hours
How much sleep my kids get per night: 11 hours (still! thank goodness!)
What I love most about my husband: How he loves us and how he helps me so much and allows me my "me time."

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday A and I went to Mommy & Me class like always. We had our regular class until 10:30 and then we all went over to the pumpkin patch! I took MIL's camera, since mine is broken and I feel like I am missing a hand without it. (Thank you MIL for letting me borrow yours!) So we went to the pumpkin patch, with her friends D and Av, and I was excited and also nervous about the pony ride. I really wanted to take her on it but you never know how a 27 month old is going to react.
We went in and bought a package so feed the goats, pony ride, bouncer, and a small pumpkin. The first thing we did was feed the goats. She was fine until she saw the flies. What the deal is with her and flies I don't think I will ever know. She shrieked so loud is was kind of funny.
So after she fed the goats, after some coercion of course, she said she wanted to go on the pony. Now my first thought was back to 1995, when K was the same age and cried hysterically on the pony. She went in with the worker, got on the pony and said "yee-haw!" I was so excited that I did not have a screaming child on the pony. She has such a good time and wanted to go again when we were done.
We finished out the pumpkin patch with the jumper, sitting on hay, throwing the hay, and throwing a tantrum which of course was not the best part of the day but that was ok. All in all we had a fun time and are looking forward to all the Halloween activities we have coming up!

"Mommy! I went potty like a big girl!!"

Tonight I got home from the first practice for my brother's soccer team that I just took over. It went really well but just reminded me of how much I need to get into shape. Ha ha.
More importantly, I cam home to give A a bath and after she says "Mommy I have to go potty." Now if you were in my house you would know that she says this EVERY night and every night she does not go. But this night was different! After her bath I was about to put on her diaper when she said the usual line. So we went into the bathroom, sat on the potty and had the biggest smile in the world. She stood up and looked in the potty and said "Mommy! I went potty like a big girl!" It was the cutest thing ever and she was so proud of herself that she had to tell Daddy, and both sets of Grandparents. She is so cute and I am so excited to share another milestone with you and I can't wait to experience many more!

Baking Cookies

Last night A wanted to bake some cookies so I had the perfect kind that are already made and she just plops them on. She was so excited to put on her chefs hat and apron. She did a great job putting the cookies on the sheet and even carried them to the oven for me to put in. While we were waiting for the cookies to bake she sang some songs as well. Enjoy!

This is Halloween!!!

My mom and I took A to Disneyland on Wednesday, since I am taking advantage before she turns 3 and is no longer 3! We went to show her all the Halloween decorations. This year is the biggest for Disneyland when it comes to decorations that they even have made Halloween fireworks! We were not able to see it because we did not stay that late but my mom and I are going next week with K & the boys to go see them but here is a preview of what we will see that I found on YouTube. Enjoy!
P.S. make sure you mute my play list before watching the video and turn up your volume so you can get the full effect! It is amazing!
